Standard BNQ 6645-001
Wheelchairs
The BNQ 6645-001 standard specifies the minimum requirements to ensure the occupant’s safety as well as the functionality, manoeuvrability, robustness and strength of wheelchairs in the physical environments where they are likely to be used. It also ensures that user documentation provides the information necessary in choosing a wheelchair that will meet the occupant’s needs.
The BNQ 6645-001 standard applies to manual wheelchairs (FMA), to powered wheelchairs (FMO) and to tilt wheelchairs (BPO). It will be used in support of the public procurement process of the Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec (RAMQ) for the purchase of wheelchairs.
