Landscaping with Plants
BNQ standards on ornamental horticulture (BNQ 0605-) constitute a major reference for ornamental industry growers and service providers concerned with offering their customers guarantees of quality and reliability.
These standards contribute to ensuring that the production, use and maintenance of plants and landscaping work with inert materials are carried out with environmental preservation in mind and consideration of currently existing techniques.
Standard BNQ 0605-100 applies to landscaping with plants. In addition to promoting user awareness of the importance of preserving existing trees and shrubs during landscaping and construction work, the standard establishes rules, techniques, specifications and requirements related to all aspects of landscaping with plants. The standard is divided into 12 sections covering the following aspects:
- Definitions;
- Preservation of trees and shrubs during landscaping and construction work;
- Surface preparation work;
- Soils;
- Sodding;
- Seeding;
- Renovating sodded and seeded surfaces;
- Naturalizing and stabilizing slopes, banks and slopes with vegetative cover;
- Planting trees and shrubss;
- Planting annuals and perennials, including bulb plants;
- Landscaping work with mosaics;
- Planting green walls.
