Soils - Dynamic Cone Penetration Test

National Standard of Canada CAN/BNQ 2501-145 specifies a test method used to determine the penetration index N in vertical drilling. The Dynamic Cone Penetration Test is used during geotechnical investigations for the purpose of determining the soil resistance profile on penetration of a cone.

This standardized test method establishes the requirements for three specific elements:

  • Equipment : boring equipment, conical tip, drill string, jarring device
  • Operating method : assembly, penetration test, extraction of drill string
