The standard ISO/IEC 17025 General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories enables laboratories to demonstrate that they operate competently and generate valid results, thereby promoting confidence in their work both nationally and internationally.
The standard also helps facilitate cooperation between laboratories and other bodies by generating wider acceptance of results between countries. Certificates and test reports can be accepted from one country to another without the need for further testing, which, in turn, improves international trade.
All testing laboratories wishing to be accredited may contact the BNQ since the latter has established a partnership with the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) to provide assessment services for purposes of recommending accreditation under ISO/IEC 17025, ISO/IEC 17043 and ISO 17034. Assessments of testing laboratories performed by the BNQ enables to establish the desired level of performance and to provide it with national and international recognition.
